Belchertown Community Garden

Belchertown’s Best Kept Secret

The Belchertown Community Garden had a record number of gardeners for the 2019 season with 39 gardeners tending their plots on the beautiful and fertile acreage of Lampson Brook Farm at 275 Jackson Street.

Under the guidance of the New England Small Farm Institute which leases the farm land of the former Belchertown State School from the state, 300 square foot prepared plots are available to both Belchertown residents and non-residents for a small fee. The garden fee includes free compost, the use of shared tools in a well-organized tool shed, convenient access to water, a restroom, and parking space as well as the camaraderie and wisdom of your gardening neighbors. A library of periodicals and books specifically for the “home” gardener is also available in the big yellow barn adjacent to the gardens.

Both beginner and experienced gardeners are welcome. Registration for the 2020 season will open in the early spring. Depending on the weather, the opening of the garden itself will be at the beginning of May.
